Welcome to the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris.

Located on the border between Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter, the Luxembourg Gardens were inspired by the Boboli Gardens in Florence. They were created on instructions from Queen Marie de Medici  (the widow of King Henry IV of France) in 1612.

The gardens, which cover more than 55.5 acres, are divided into French gardens and English gardens.

Between the two gardens lies a geometric forest and a large pond. There is also an apple orchard, a bee-keeping apiary, greenhouses with a collection of orchids and a rose garden.

The park has 106 statues, as well as the monumental Medici fountain, the Museé de l'Orangerie and the Pavillon Davioud.

Children can enjoy puppet shows, rides and slides, while adults can play chess or bridge and drive remote control boats. There are public tennis courts—deftly hidden away from the city noise—for anyone to play on, as well as a popular restaurant called the Pavillon de la Fontaine to get your post-practice snack.
