Siegemund tries to ace gelato test in Rome

Ice cream flavors are more complicated than the German expected.

Laura Siegemund bit off more than she could chew, or lick, in Rome this week. Taking a Gelato Taste Challenge, the German got to sample a variety of normal, unusual and extremely weird flavors.

Nutella seemed simple enough, but who pairs strawberry and tomato? The Stuttgart champion thought it was weird, too. Siegemund was most impressive in guessing celery (note: also weird), but really should have gotten pistachio right.

Siegemund would falter on court as well—thanks mostly to a tough draw—by losing to recent Madrid champion Simona Halep in the second round.
