Nick Kyrgios polished off veteran Marcos Baghdatis 7-6 (1), 6-4 in Madrid’s first round, and he didn’t disappoint with his flair for box office tennis. The world No. 20 has always relished opportunities to make a highlight reel or two—even before play begins.

Waiting for the coin toss, Kyrgios twirled his racket like a propeller.

Warming up saw a fortunate near miss as Kyrgios cranked a serve that nearly plunked his quick-reacting opponent. In baseball, Baghdatis would be obligated to charge the mound, but both players acknowledged the mistake and shared a few laughs.

In the second set, Baghdatis went to his bench to get a new racket. While waiting, Kyrgios crouched down and began sketching a solitaire game of tic-tac-toe. Does he prefer Xs or Os?

Later, the Australian ripped a winning backhand down-the-line, followed by a deep stare and another racket propeller.

Kyrgios has also jumped back onto the doubles court with good friend Jack Sock (who fell in the first round to Nicolas Mahut). The duo are dispatching veterans left and right, taking out Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau in the first round, and then Rajeev Ram and Raven Klaasen in the second.

It's all just another day in the office for Kyrgios. He marches on in Madrid, leaving behind a few more reasons to stay tuned for his next show.
