Sharing a day in the life on tour with his fans, Borna Coric thought his Madrid campaign was over when he lost in the final round of qualifying to Mikhail Kukushkin. But a lucky loser spot gave him new life, and with it, he won his first round over Mischa Zverev on Tuesday.

"I was a little bit lucky, I got in as a lucky loser," the world No. 59-ranked Coric said. "But sometimes you need luck, so that's part of life as well."

The 20-year-old Croatian went through an extensive stretching routine, which he does after each and every practice.

"I need to stretch after each practice for 20 minutes because I tend to get very sore, so this is part of my routine," Coric said. "This is basically brushing my teeth in the morning."

Coric has had a memorable season already by winning his first ATP title in Morocco last month, but he's still working to regain his foothold on the Top 50.

He also had a special message for fans during his stretch.

Coric has made good on a lucky loser opportunity before. In 2015, he used a lucky loser entrance to become the youngest Dubai semifinalist ever, stunning Andy Murray in the quarterfinals.

This is only Coric's second Madrid appearance, having lost to Novak Djokovic in the second round last year.
