Amanda Anisimova and Paris get along very well. In 2016, the young American reached a career-high No. 2 in the junior ITF rankings when she was just 14 after a dream run to the French Open junior final.

When the 15-year-old returns to Paris this year, she could very well face players twice her age, in the main draw of the women's tournament.

Anisimova clinched the USTA Roland Garros Wild Card Challenge this week —a series of USTA Pro Circuit events from which the best performer earns a wild card into the clay-court major.

Anisimova earned more points than any other American woman at $80,000 and $60,000 Pro Circuit events in Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., and Dothan, Ala., respectively, by reaching both finals.

To put Anisimova’s accomplishment in context, her first Grand Slam main draw appearance will be in a draw that includes 36-year-old Venus Williams. Williams won three Grand Slam titles before Anisimova was born in 2001.

The world No. 264-ranked Anisimova will still be eligible to defend her junior finalist finish in Paris. She is still 15, after all.
