While he hasn’t reached the heights on the pro tour yet as some of his compatriots, there’s no mistaking the ability of American Tommy Paul.

Playing against Mitchell Krueger in the second round of the Savannah ATP Challenger in Georgia, Paul displayed a mix of scrappiness and shot-making savvy to pull off the upset.

Krueger took the first set, 6-3, despite Paul winning what might be considered one of the best points of the season so far. The two battled throughout the second with Krueger eventually earning a match point. Paul fought that off and managed to win the second-set tiebreak 8-6. From there, it was all Paul as the 19-year-old broke Krueger three times in the final frame to win it, 6-0.

Paul, who won the French Open junior crown in 2015, is arguably at his best on clay. Earlier this year, he won an ITF Pro Circuit Futures title in Palm Coast, Fla., and made the final of another Futures tournament in Orlando, Fla., both on clay.

Paul is ranked No. 393, but was as high as No. 191 last year.
