Team Belarus staged a compelling, borderline shocking upset of former Fed Cup finalist Team Switzerland this weekend. With players ranked in the 90s at best, what mattered most was seizing on even one upstart performance in singles, and the Belarusians did just that, upending Timea Bacsinszky and winning 3-2 overall.

They did so with an out-of-commission Victoria Azarenka, set to return to the tour in July following the birth of her first child, Leo, eagerly cheering them on. Even so, a highly understandable post-match celebration involved a teammate's foot accidentally connecting with Azarenka's face:

Azarenka will probably get her own kicks come November when the Fed Cup final is played.

Belarus will face off against a spirited United States team that's likely to include semifinal MVP CoCo Vandeweghe, Bethanie Mattek-Sands and—who's to say?—perhaps Top 10 stars Venus Williams and Madison Keys, in light of world No. 1 Serena Williams being sidelined during her pregnancy.

Azarenka will have her work cut out for her, in that case. She would be joined by Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Aryna Sabalenka, ranked No. 96 and No. 125, respectively, at present.

That's not to say Azarenka can't pull off the feat. She simply can't go it alone. Belarus would need two singles wins from her to seize the title, plus a third match victory. Might Azarenka have triple duty as a doubles player in the forthcoming final? The world can wait—but just barely.
