John Isner is feeling 31 years young, and why shouldn't he be? He only turned pro a decade ago after playing four full years at the University of Georgia. He's also surrounded by older talent, like Stan Wawrinka, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, to name just a few, who are enjoying immense over-30 success.

"I do feel like I'm a young 31," Isner said. "It's not getting any easier—I probably felt better when I was 25–but I think right now I'm a better tennis player... I think I have a lot of good years ahead of me."

At the end of last season, the world No. 23 brought on a new coach to his team (which still includes Rene Moller) in former Bryan brothers coach, David Macpherson. A lot of their focus has been improving his game in ways that increase the longevity of his career.

"I have everything I need in my corner to do well, " Isner said.

Before he turns his sights on the second major of the year, Isner is into the quarterfinals in Houston, and is entered in a loaded Monte Carlo field next week led by world No. 1 Andy Murray.
