Bethanie Mattek-Sands—holder of the No. 1 ranking in doubles—deserved some pampering after winning Charleston (with her partner in crime, Lucie Safarova). The 32-year-old adventured to Manhattan to work with celebrity hair stylist Ted Gibson and colorist Jason Becke.

With the signature energy that's earned her 25 doubles titles, Mattek-Sands dived right into the makeover.

The American is famous for her wild fashion risks and passion for color, so she went bold and, of course, documented the journey.
