Forget that Wimbledon marathon against John Isner. Nicolas Mahut will never be accused of not trying, and this past weekend’s Davis Cup doubles proved that. Witness that exchange between Mahut and Julien Benneteau for Team France and Jamie Murray and Dominic Inglot of Team Great Britain.

Talk about some Type A doubles. Mahut refused to given in until well, the point was decided for him. He got the last laugh, however, as he and Benneteau beat Inglot and the tweet-happy, Davis Cup-disgruntled Murray by a  7-6 (9-7), 5-7, 7-5, 7-5 count.

What’s more, France beat Great Britain decisively to duck into the Davis Cup semifinals. They'll host Serbia in September.
