There is nothing more awkward than a tennis reporter trying to be witty and sympathetic and failing at it on a public stage.

After his Miami Open final loss to Roger Federer, the third one in a row this year, Rafael Nadal had to endure an excruciating press conference where a reporter congratulated him on his "win." Yeah, Nadal, who has now lost in five Miami finals, wasn't too happy.

After an awkward second of silence, he said "I lost by the way." What does the journalist come back with? "Yeah, I know, but it's a win anyway."

No, it really isn't, but the ever-professional Spaniard launched into a lengthy answer anyway.
