Tennis matches have been suspended for so many reasons. Perhaps a torrential downpour completely halts play in a Grand Slam or players have to stop because one of the floodlights shining on the court decides to just die.

However, this may be the first time that an iguana has halted play so completely or, at least, for this long. Tommy Haas was taking on Jiri Vesely,  trying to secure his first ATP singles victory in almost two years, when a reptile that has now been named "Iggy the Iguana" rampaged onto the court at 3-3 in the third set, making officials and players scurry around trying to get the animal out of the court.

“I don’t think it’s going to bother you," the chair umpire said to a resisting Vesely. "Forget about it, it’s not a dangerous animal."

Haas didn't mind though. He did what any person with a smartphone would do. Overgrown lizard storming into your match? Let me take a selfie.

Despite his new-found friendship with the beast, even Haas had to run away when Iggy launched himself onto the court.

Iggy did not bring good luck to Haas however, as he continued his singles losing streak, falling to Vesely, 7-6 (5), 3-6, 5-7.
