Buried deep in *People* magazine's online post about Laverne Cox flubbing her Grammy Awards intro of Metallica—just one of that televised ceremony's mishaps—lays a nugget about Beyoncé and Serena Williams.

According to Cox, she nearly starred alongside the Beyonic Woman in the insta-famous clip for the song "Sorry" from Bey's heralded, somewhat Grammy-grabby Lemonade album. Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, reached out to her directly, only for a scheduling clash—Cox was shooting a live-TV project at the time—to allegedly cause her to miss out.

"They wanted to have all these powerful, empowered black women in the video and they wanted to have me and Viola [Davis] and Kerry [Washington]," Cox told People.

"I was shooting Rocky Horror Picture Show at the time and they were like, 'Can you get the EP [executive producer] to shoot something and send it to us?' and there was just no time to do it,” Cox explained further. "The concept changed. And could you imagine anyone else? I mean, there was Serena Williams, like, giving us full life."

In truth, it seems one would leave just about any project to feature prominently in one of Beyowulf's visual albums, notably for its most accessible, pop-radio–friendly hit.

And relaying such a story to the press now seems a rather wistful thing to do.

That is Cox's story to tell, though. In the end, only the Lord knows how the process worked out—the Lord and Beyoncé, that is.
