New York City was buzzing on Wednesday night about former New York Knicks fan favorite Charles Oakley’s arrest at Madison Square Garden. As the one-time NBA All-Star was escorted out by a throng of security, who was watching front and center from just a few feet away? Tennis legend John McEnroe.

Tennis fans know that it is rare to find McEnroe on the outside of action looking in, but even he seemed perplexed at what was unfolding right before him.

McEnroe frequents Madison Garden often, also having attended the St. John’s men’s basketball game last week. Head coach Chris Mullin’s reaction to the New Yorker’s appearance in his team’s huddle during St. John’s game against DePaul will not surprise anyone who has followed McEnroe's past antics.

The 57-year-old is finding ways to stay in the news even long after his playing days.
