Fognini and Pennetta expecting first child

The Italian tennis power couple got married earlier this year.

The future of Italian tennis looks bright: Fabio Fognini and Flavia Pennetta are expecting their first child.

The couple broke the news via social media. Fognini, ranked No. 57, posted a message on Instagram capturing the pair’s excitement.

“It is with a heart full of joy that Flavia and I announce this beautiful news,” Fognini wrote, adding that among many wonderful public and private moments they’ve shared, this stands above the rest.

The couple also tweetedthe exciting news under the headline “Baby Fognetta is coming.”

Fognini and Pennetta (who retired in 2015 after winning the US Open) were married in June.
