Meeting the leader of the free world is a big deal. That's why Angelique Kerber was so ecstatic when she topped off a very successful season by meeting U.S. President Barack Obama for lunch on Thursday. The world No. 1 ended her season as runner-up at the WTA Finals in Singapore, losing to Dominika Cibulkova.

Thursday wasn't the only time that a WTA player has met the president. Caroline Wozniacki met Obama in April 2015, when she took him on in a casual tennis match during the White House's annual Easter egg roll.

Serena Williams has also spent time with the presidential family. She visited the White House after winning Wimbledon in 2009, and helped promote physical activity at the US Open with Michelle Obama in 2011.
