Former No. 1 Dinara Safina and Alona Bondarenko are about to enter the coaching realms together. The two former champions will take part in the MatchPoint NYC off-season training program from November 28–January 6.

The program will be held at MatchPoint NYC’s indoor facility, which boasts nine indoor tennis courts, and will accept eight WTA players and 10 juniors (ages 14 and up).

Bondarenko’s younger sister Kateryna (currently ranked No. 72) and Anhelina Kalinina (the 2014 junior US Open finalist) have already signed up. The 9 a.m.–5 p.m. training regime includes swimming and off-court training.

Safina retired in 2014 after winning 12 WTA singles titles and reaching three major finals. Alona Bondarenko retired in 2011 after reaching a career-high ranking of No. 19 and winning the Australian Open doubles title (with Kateryna).
