In this week's slice of Throwback, Self-Fulfilling Prophecy News, take a look at Angie at 15: Angelique Kerber, 13 years before her Australian Open and U.S. Open triumphs,

"It's definitely my goal to win Wimbledon or the Australian Open one day," she said in that vintage interview with the SC Story program, "or to participate there. And ... I will fight for it."

Boasting a 63-18 record this season, along with capturing two of the year's four singles major titles, the 28-year-old certainly fought for everything she attained in 2016.

She also reached the finals of Wimbledon (so close), the Rio Olympics and the WTA Finals. Kerber all but deadpanned after the WTA Finals single championship was over that 2016 was certainly one of her best years on court.

One of her best? The last player to win at least two singles majors in a year was Serena Williams. And before that: Serena. A forerunner to those: Serena.

Watch out in 2017 because players like Dominika Cibulkova and many more will be placing targets.
