Gael Monfils revealed that his uncustomary (for anyone else, or even him) tactics in a lopsided yet four-set semifinal loss to Novak Djokovic were attempts to change up the looks he was giving the ATP's No. 1 titan.

He also said that John McEnroe's scathing criticism of his play against Djokovic was, in a word, "sad." Try as he might, or might not, depending on the set, game or point, he found quasi-sympathy from the likes of Victoria Azarenka and Chris Evert.
