NEW YORK — On Tuesday night, Caroline Wozniacki cruised into the US Open semifinals over a hindered Anastasija Sevastova, 6-0, 6-2. The Latvian rolled her ankle in the second game, and seemed anguished throughout the 65-minute ordeal.

Meanwhile, Wozniacki is excited to be back in a Grand Slam semifinal (for the first time since the 2014 US Open).

But despite the brilliant week, talk of the 26-year-old retiring has begun swirling. Her father and coach, Piotr Wozniacki spoke with Danish press about it, effectively spilling the beans.

“I do not know if Caroline will only play the rest of the season or if she will play another one,” he told *Ekstra Bladet*. “We have not taken any final decision. But as I understand her, it will not be a long career.”

After her Tuesday win, Wozniacki didn't deny it.

"I think I don't want to really talk about that now," she said. "When I feel ready to open up and say something then I will, but for now I'm just here to play this tournament.

"Hopefully I have two more matches here. Yeah, it's really all I'm focused on right now."

Were she to win the US Open and retire, she'd be pulling a Flavia Pennetta (who announced her retirement in her US Open victory speech last year).

The former No. 1 has had an injury-riddled season (including a severely sprained ankle), and her ranking has fallen to No. 74 after a 13-14 record in 2016. She has yet to win a Grand Slam title.

Her semifinal opponent on Thursday will be world No. 2 Angelique Kerber. The German leads their career head-t0-head 7-5.
