Djokovic sings Phil Collins song after first-round win

Opening night doesn't get much better than this.

NEW YORK — On Monday night, Novak Djokovic proved he's a Genesis fan when he broke out into "I Can't Dance" (complete with some smooth dance moves) during his post-match interview. The Serb opened the first night of US Open action, but the act before him nearly stole the show.

Phil Collins, in just his second show since coming out of retirement, was the headlining act for opening night.

The former Genesis singer-drummer sang his hit "In the Air Tonight" as the new Arthur Ashe Stadium roof dramatically opened.

With the crowd still reeling from Collins' performance (and duet with Leslie Odom Jr.), Djokovic took to the court to beat Jerzy Janowicz, 6-3, 5-7, 7-2, 6-1. Afterward, Madison Keys outlasted Alison Riske in the latest women's match in US Open history 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2 (wrapping up at 1:48 a.m.).

It goes almost without saying that Night 1 was a huge success.
