Two queens united on Sunday ahead of their own respective huge pe

So this is what it looks like when queens come together.

Serena Williams introduced her pal Beyoncé's performance at MTV's Video Music Awards on Sunday night. "She dropped an earth-shaking visual album featuring an appearance by yours truly," Serena shared with the crowd, already on its feet with eager expectation for the Beyonic Woman, "And she is currently in the middle of the hottest tour in 2016."

Williams, who previously appeared in the entertainer's "Sorry" music video, quickly gave way to a stunning performance by the woman with whom she shares a birth month (and year) soon in September, when each turns 35

Other WTA players took notice of the appearance and the performance as well, among them Caroline Wozniacki, Eugenie Bouchard and Nicole Gibbs.

Bouchard brought her guile on the subject to Twitter more than once, rightly noting that any performers going on after Beyoncé (Britney Spears, Rihanna, et al.) were, well, in trouble.

It remains to be seen whether Serena will "slay" the competition at this U.S. Open, thus breaking the 22-major-titles mark she co-owns with Steffi Graf.
