Rafael Nadal isn't always a solitary star, you know. Marc Lopez, a 2016 French Open doubles champion alongside Feliciano Lopez (no relation), is partnering with him in Rio Olympic doubles, and the two are off to a smashing start. The No. 6-seeded Spaniards saw off Juan Martin del Potro and Maximo Gonzalez of Argentina 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 in a captivating match that went the distance on Monday. The ending was oh so adorable:

That's underwear-model Nadal hugging and pecking on his teammate. The affection between partners shows the trust, affability, and comfort that they enjoy. But Nadal isn't limiting his Rio campaign—on slow hard courts, no less—to singles and men's doubles alone. He's also in line to play mixed doubles alongside countrywoman Garbine Muguruza.

Now, Rafa, don't get your fans all teary quite yet about what one day must come.

The Nadal-Lopez pair are into the semifinals after topping Oliver Marach and Alexander Peya of Austria, a formidable tandem who dispatched the United States team of Rajeev Ram and Brian Baker in the previous round. Nadal's 6-3, 6-3 romp over Italy's Andreas Seppi to reach the third round in singles play bodes well for his body, damaged left wrist be damned. This guy is living his best life now.
