Yanina Wickmayer dominated Washington by winning both the singes and doubles titles (with Monica Niculescu). The world No. 44 beat first-time finalist Lauren Davis, 6-4, 6-2 in the final.

Great Britain’s Johanna Konta denied Venus Williams her 50th WTA title to win her first at Stanford. The 25-year-old gave up a set and 4-1 lead, but eventually won 7-5, 5-7, 6-2. Konta was the fist British woman to reach the Stanford final since Virginia Wade in 1981. She has now reached a career-high ranking of No. 14.

The Rogers Cup saw another top-ranked player pull out when Serena Williams withdrew with a shoulder injury. ''Due to inflammation in my shoulder, I unfortunately must withdraw from the Rogers Cup,'' Williams said in a statement. ''I was looking forward to competing in Montreal and I look forward to returning soon.''

The three-time Rogers Cup champion is fresh from her seventh Wimbledon title, and is headed to Rio next.
