Venus was trying to reach her first French Open quarterfinal in a decade.

He'll take on Dominic Thiem next.

On Tuesday, Simona Halep fell to Samantha Stosur, 7-6 (1), 6-3 and Agnieszka Radwanska lost to Tsvetana Pironkova, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Both expressed frustration with having to play through the rain for parts of their matches. “I’m just pissed,” Radwanska said. “I cannot play in those conditions.”

“I have no words,” Halep said. “It’s impossible to play, in my opinion.”
