After more rain pushed matches back on Monday, Andy Murray wasn’t able to finish his match against 37-year-old Radek Stepanek due to darkness. (Play was paused with Murray up 4-2 in the fourth set.) The second seeded Scot trailed 5-4 in the fifth on Tuesday, but took the match, 3-6 3-6 6-0 6-2 7-5. Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber was tossed out in Round 1 to world No. 58 Kiki Bertens (who just won Nurnberg), 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

Second-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska started off her week strong with a 6-0, 6-2 routing of Bojana Jovanovski, while fourth-seeded Garbine Muguruza needed a little more time to beat Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Shelby Rogers knocked out No. 17-seed Karolina Pliskova, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, while fellow American Christina McHale was upset by French wildcard Myrtille Georges. Cagla Buyukakcay made history by becoming the first Turkish woman to win a main-draw Grand Slam match by beating Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 5-7, 7-6 (2), 6-2.

Defending champion Stan Wawrinka stole the show on Monday by needing five sets to take out Lukas Rosol. Bjorn Fratangelo won his first Grand Slam main-draw match by notching his first-ever Top 40 win against fellow American Sam Querrey, 6-3, 6-1, 6-7 (3), 6-3. Tenth-seeded Marin Cilic was the highest seed to drop out, losing to qualifier Marco Trungelliti, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Jack Sock also advanced, needing five sets to top Robin Haase.
