Hi Nick: My son turned 5 in September and has had lessons for almost two years. He is in the 6-to-7-year-old class and clearly has ability to learn beyond what is taught. I would like to develop his talent and see where it takes him. Would it be appropriate to start private lessons at this age?

Hi Muriel: Yes, just be careful not to overdo it and hurt your son physically while he is still a toddler. And I hope your son is following the USTA 10-and-under program with the softer balls, shorter courts and lower nets. Best of luck!
