Djokovic, Azarenka celebrate 'Sunshine Double' wins

Both players won Indian Wells and the Miami Open.

Sunday marked the third time in history that both an ATP and WTA player swept Indian Wells and Miami for the “Sunshine Double.” Novak Djokovic topped Kei Nishikori for his 28th Masters 1000 title a day after fellow Indian Wells champion Victoria Azarenka beat Svetlana Kuznetsova. The last time this feat was achieved was by Roger Federer and Kim Clijsters in 2005.

If you were watching Djokovic make history, you noticed he FaceTimed someone before the trophy ceremony. Well, mystery solved:

He celebrated his sixth Miami Open title with his fans, his team and a torrent of confetti showers. And he also assured fans that the tournament would stay in Miami for “a long time.”

With her win Azarenka rose to No. 5 in the world rankings. She took to the beach to celebrate for her second trophy photo shoot of the month:

Not to be outdone, both doubles finals ended with Sunshine Double achievements. Bethanie Mattek-Sands won with Lucie Safarova in Miami and CoCo Vandeweghe in Indian Wells, while Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert took home both ATP titles. Mahut and Herbert overtook Mike and Bob Bryan and are now ranked No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
